Architecture is important to the wellbeing of everyone around us. It influences who we consider ourselves to be, how we feel and even how we behave. The way that buildings around us are built and designed can change lives, give people hope and opportunity, and make society a better place.

It is therefore extremely important to constantly redefine, refine and develop our perception of architecture, and especially architecture's impact on human mental wellbeing. Architecture is a very old profession, but our formal understanding of it as a means to implement change is very young and very basic. We did it almost unintentionally for centuries, building beautiful mosques, cathedrals or magnificent palaces that gave those lucky enough to experience them positivity in their lives. But we lost that during the industrial revolution, and now need to try to bring it back. But not just bring it back to the few who are lucky enough to have the means to afford it, but to everyone, in all walks of life.

Architecture is art. Art can make the world a better place, and no other form of art is as visible as architecture in the day-to-day. This is why the British Aspirational Architecture group exists.
